I'm not unemployed anymore - I actually have a very fabulous job as a preschool teacher with the University of Michigan child care centers. But I'm still posting, albeit a little more irregularly, and I don't want to ignore the personal progress I've made since starting this blog by renaming it.

Blog inspiration: I read 48 States in 48 Days by Paul Jury in the summer of 2011. It was fabulous...although he planned way less for his roadtrip than I would have. And at the same time, my lovely Anna was constantly reminding me that our lives were awesome, despite the fact that we didn't have job prospects, new cars, boyfriends/husbands, houses, etc., like so many people we knew. So, in an effort to appreciate my life and the crazy uncertainty that it is, I started writing this blog about the little adventures I have. (And by "writing a blog," I mean "making a list" because I make lists, not narratives.) Even if there isn't a BIG adventure that happens every day, I try to find at least one thing to list :)

Hunger For The Great Light

  • I'm onto Catching Fire of Hunger Games...soooo intense and I really love it. I reminds me a lot of The Uglies by Scott Westerfeld (I highly recommend that series to anyone who loves Hunger Games). Also, I LOVE Peeta and Katniss together - because, whether it's real or not for their characters (I'm not finished with the second one so I don't know what happens - don't tell me!), Suzanne Collins can write subtle but romantic details. I haven't read Twilight, but I keep thinking how much better even these little snippets must be than that.
  • Me and the boys and my dad and Barbara went sledding! I haven't been in a long time and it was fun.
  • I am missing Carlee and Krystle A LOT. I think I got too spoiled doing awesome things every day with them last week. In fact, I'm missing all my friends :/ NYE came and then went away very fast and, all of a sudden, they have to go back to work and school and I won't see them for too long :(

  1. Yay! I'm so glad to have someone to understand the similarities between Uglies and Hunger Games with me. I keep telling people about Uglies, and am always surprised that they've never heard of it (although I hadn't before you). I finally started Specials today.

and yes, her romantic bits are a million times better than Twilight.

  2. Instead of thinking how long it will be until you see everyone again, break it into small bits.
    1. You won't be leaving until February, Phil, Kristin, Katie, Joe and Kathreen are all in/around Kzoo.
    2. Then you can go month by month, or even week by week, every one you get through makes it closer to the end and coming home. :)

  3. PP - Yes, I've been recommending Uglies to anyone who tells me they love Hunger Games. They really are almost exactly the same.

Carlee - That's definitely helpful :) I will be getting lots of advice from you. Not that I don't already.
