- Today started very early (4 a.m.) but Cara and Melissa were awesome enough to drive me to the airport, despite the early time. We stopped at Starbucks and found out that someone threatened to bomb Noodles & Co. last night, so the shopping center had to close. Who would bomb a Noodles? Especially the one in Arborland? Good Lord.
- My layover in Denver was fantastic, because I got to spend it with Sarah! It was so great to see her. We talked about all kinds of things - she's so easy to talk to - and rediscovered how alike we can be :) Updated each other on family and just chatted over breakfast (which was way too expensive and not that great). I loved it. Plus, the mountains are so beautiful! It made me wish I was headed up to Silverthorne again (can't believe that was over a year and a half ago).
- Instead, I landed safely in Austin, which is a perfectly good alternative. Aunt Carmen was there to greet me :) We talked on the ride home and all through lunch. She misses Uncle Doug a lot. It's sad to think she's by herself now. I'm really enjoying hearing her stories and I really hope that my being here is helpful to her, that she'll feel a little less lonely. I wish I could fix it forever :/
- I keep getting emails saying that "So-and-so is following me on Pinterest" so I've been thinking about what kind of boards I'm going to make (I've vowed not to explore the site or use my boards until after I'm in Korea). I was thinking that it would be fun to have a "People that Inspire Me" board...but then I realized that I don't really aspire to be like any famous person. All of my role models are people I actually know - Liz, Jen, Krystle, Carlee, Aunt Carmen, Barbara, my mom - and I don't need a board to remember that :)
I'm not unemployed anymore - I actually have a very fabulous job as a preschool teacher with the University of Michigan child care centers. But I'm still posting, albeit a little more irregularly, and I don't want to ignore the personal progress I've made since starting this blog by renaming it.
Blog inspiration: I read 48 States in 48 Days by Paul Jury in the summer of 2011. It was fabulous...although he planned way less for his roadtrip than I would have. And at the same time, my lovely Anna was constantly reminding me that our lives were awesome, despite the fact that we didn't have job prospects, new cars, boyfriends/husbands, houses, etc., like so many people we knew. So, in an effort to appreciate my life and the crazy uncertainty that it is, I started writing this blog about the little adventures I have. (And by "writing a blog," I mean "making a list" because I make lists, not narratives.) Even if there isn't a BIG adventure that happens every day, I try to find at least one thing to list :)
