I'm not unemployed anymore - I actually have a very fabulous job as a preschool teacher with the University of Michigan child care centers. But I'm still posting, albeit a little more irregularly, and I don't want to ignore the personal progress I've made since starting this blog by renaming it.

Blog inspiration: I read 48 States in 48 Days by Paul Jury in the summer of 2011. It was fabulous...although he planned way less for his roadtrip than I would have. And at the same time, my lovely Anna was constantly reminding me that our lives were awesome, despite the fact that we didn't have job prospects, new cars, boyfriends/husbands, houses, etc., like so many people we knew. So, in an effort to appreciate my life and the crazy uncertainty that it is, I started writing this blog about the little adventures I have. (And by "writing a blog," I mean "making a list" because I make lists, not narratives.) Even if there isn't a BIG adventure that happens every day, I try to find at least one thing to list :)

These New Friends Of Yours (May 10)

  • I was able to occupy my 6th graders today so that I could teach my 3rd/4th graders separately. Woo! (They are all in one class together on T/Th. Up until now, I've been able to get away with having the 6th graders sit in the hall for a while, but now my MT won't let us do that. So this is exciting.) They even continued to work on the word searches I gave them after the 3rd/4th graders left!
  • I went to a music "service" tonight. It's kind of a branch off of the church that I go to, organized by another English teacher in Pohang. We met at a Christian coffee place, sang/listened to different music and just talked. I met some fabulous new people (including some girls from South Africa...I love listening to them talk!) and I can't wait to see them all again. Yay for new friends!
  • In March, Anna and PP brought me a birthday cake from my dad when they came to visit. Yesterday, I remembered it was still in my freezer. I took it out and it's been defrosting all day. Tonight, when I got home, I warmed it in the microwave. OH. MY. GOD. IT IS AMAZING. Chocolate Truffle Cake, I think he called it. Rich chocolate cake with a layer of raspberry in the middle and covered with melted white chocolate chips as icing. And you'd never know it's over 6 weeks old. Nom nom nom.
